No storm expert here, sorry -:) - but I too love rains and storms, from the soft, gentle ones to the ones that come with winds, thunder, and lightning. I feel they resonate with our deep, primal connection with natural world we inhabit, giving the rise to any creativity or need for self-expression that might be sleeping inside us.
