Life (as we understand it) cannot be extended indefinitely. Only the existence of someone's life can be extended, and now, in a digital format. In essence, it is a modern (digital and, of course, much advanced) way of preserving evidence of one's existence... In its core, it's the same idea ancient Egyptians had when they built pyramids.
