I agree completely. Even short experience on Medium has shown me how the main goal of a platform like this is to generate views and thus profit, which is understandable. To achieve that, a clever strategy of 'intermitted reward' has been implemented. It is more-less the same as any other social media platform - basic human desire to be heard, to be acknowledged put to best use. Writing, as any truly creative endeavour, requires time, devotion, freedom to hear ones thoughts. Content creation required audience.
