Thank you for the post - I've enjoyed reading it.
Revolutions are never 'entirely about philosophy' but always, in some way, based on it, the guiding idea(ology). What remains both interesting and debatable is the 'free will' phenomenon. Providing humans are not only in possession of it but are able/willing to examine it, the question of transformations humans experience through their life remains. In that context, the very idea of 'knowing one self' becomes questionable. Because our awareness of 'self' is closely if not critically entangled with our reflection in others. Just some thoughts.
