I am glad you found the post interesting and thought-provoking.

I do think that voluntary euthanasia is likely to become more common in the future, however I don’t think that age, of and by itself, or any one factor on its own, could be a criterion. Rather, I believe that the multitude of factors ought to be taken into consideration as everyone’s circumstances are different.

At the end of the day someone of advanced age in reasonable health and with a loving, caring family around might as well never even consider it as an option, while another person in the same circumstances (like a Jan in the movie) might decide that it is the time to leave. Equally a much younger person enduring multitude of problems, from debilitating illness to marginalisation, poverty, and similar might consider it.

My point was/is that all are deserving of compassion and understanding.
